Benched Winners in each category

Judges First Choice

C. Interglossa. Grower: G. & E. Markcrow

Judges considered this plant the best of all placed on the benches for the meeting.

The flowers while quite striking with the deep magenta spotting on a bright pink background were of good form and substance.

Judges Second Choice

Bulb. Wilmar Galaxy Star. Grower: C. & H. Barker

This beautifully presented plant of excellent culture could have easily won the first place as there was little between the two plants.

The grower was rewarded with an array of more than twenty four flowers across the entire plant.

Judges Third Choice

Rlc. Malworth ‘ Orchid Glade’.  Grower: G. & E. Markcrow.

The popularity of this plant has not waned over the past thirty years. It presents well and has the attractiveness of the deep strong yellow  colour.

It does not have the fullness of some of the breeding  we see today but it can still hold its own among exhibition cattleyas.

Member’s Choice

Den. Pearl Vera. Grower: S. Cavalea

This plant was the most favoured by the members who voted for the one they liked best among all shown on the benches for the meeting.

The flowers are very pleasing with the contrasting white tips on the sepals against the solid pink petals, added to this the racemes made it quite showy.
