Monthly meeting February 2018
Monthly meeting update

C. Mousmee

Speaker of the month

President Michael Byrnes

Michael was our guest speaker for the evening and he told of his involvement with a charity group named Rosie’s Friends on the street. It is a group which opens a van on Ipswich streets on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights to homeless people giving them meals, companionship, comfort and friendship.

He has spent many years in a voluntary capacity of which one project was assisting to set up and work  Rosie’s Friends on the street in Toowoomba.  He mentioned there are groups now operating in other suburbs of Brisbane and country Queensland.

He gave anonymously instances of his experiences over the years dealing with people from all walks of life who had fallen on hard times and it is not hard to understand there must be many people less fortunate than ourselves.

Michael said over the years he has become friends with people he has assisted in the past.

Support is given to the group by organisations and businesses without which the service would not be able to function.
